RESULTS Process Overview

(Recommending Effective Strategies to Unlock Learning to Struggling Students)

The RESULTS process is the procedure adopted by Wylie ISD whereby the Response to Intervention Model set forth in No Child Left Behind and IDEA can be implemented.   RtI includes tiers of intervention, with each level of support increasing in intensity.   Teachers work together through campus RESULTS teams to identify research-based interventions that are proven effective and then make collaborative educational decisions concerning these struggling students.   Progress monitoring is also part of this process.  Should data reveal that these interventions prove ineffective in meeting the individual needs of the student over an appropriate period of time, and a disability be suspected, then the RESULTS team may consider a 504 or Special Education referral.

“Important educational decisions about intensity and likely intervention duration of interventions are based on individual student response to instruction across multiple tiers of intervention.  Decisions about the necessity of more intense interventions, including eligibility for special education or other services are informed by data on learning rate and level.”  - John E. McCook, Ed. D
