Dyslexia Program General Guidelines• Students enrolled in Wylie ISD are referred, identified and served in compliance with the Texas State Board of Education “Procedures Concerning Dyslexia” guidelines. Texas Administrative Code §74.28
• The curriculum implemented by Wylie ISD’s Dyslexia Program is an Orton-Gillingham, multisensory method of instruction that is research-based and peer reviewed. Wylie ISD is one of three districts in the state of Texas participating in field study for the recently published program developed at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital, Take Flight. Components of this instruction build upon phonological processing training and include fluency and comprehension training.
• All Dyslexia personnel are trained in the field of dyslexia.
• Progress monitoring is part of the intervention. This progress is reported to parents at regular intervals.
• Students are post tested at completion or dismissal from the Dyslexia Program to measure growth in reading, spelling, and phonological processing.
