The Wylie ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved the 2017-2018 school year calendar during Monday’s regular school board meeting. The final calendar recommendation came after months of review, including parent and staff input, and meets the educational goals of the district. The calendar dates reflect Wylie ISD’s designation as a District of Innovation by the Texas Education Agency (TEA).
“We are excited about this calendar because our spring break is aligned with more of our neighboring districts,” said Heather Leggett, Wylie ISD Board President. “Parents who work, or have family in other districts, said this was important to them. In addition, as a District of Innovation we can begin school earlier and end before Memorial Day, which was another suggestion we heard frequently.”
Additional bad weather days, teacher work days, professional development days and early release days are noted on the calendar. The full 2017-2018 school year calendar is available for view.
