Akin is the only elementary campus to boast a science lab.
The science lab is a room available to all classes at Akin in
which they can come and participate in hands on science
activities. Students who visit the lab can see many different
kinds of animals including a guinea pig, hissing cockroaches,
fish, and hermit crabs. There are also many rocks, plants,
solar system models, volcano models, and human body models to
explore! In addition, Akin will continue its Science Club this year. The Akin Science Club is available to all students in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades. Each grade will meet in monthly sessions throughout the year. Meeting times are from 3pm-4pm. Students must be able to commit to each session, have transportation home, maintain their grades, and have good behavior in the classroom.
