Preliminary data on this year's TAKS scores indicate that the district has regained its Recognized Rating while more WISD campuses have significantly improved their scores and rankings! The district anticipates Exemplary Ratings at Harrison Intermediate and Cox, Dodd, Smith and Whitt elementary schools. Recognized Ratings will go to Wylie East High School, Davis and Draper Intermediate schools and Akin, Birmingham, Groves, Hartman and Tibbals elementary schools. Wylie High School and the three junior high schools will maintain the Academically Acceptable Rating. The state doesn't rate the Special Programs Center.
"It is wonderful to watch our plan for improving student performance and achievement bring such dramatic results," said Superintendent H. John Fuller. "We see that working individually with students, analyzing data, maintaining relatively small campuses as research recommends, and reorganizing our curriculum is beginning to pay the dividends that we have worked so hard to achieve. Congratulations to our staff members, students and parents who have worked together as a team for these amazing results. I am proud to boast throughout the state that 13 of our 17 regular campuses are either Recognized or Exemplary."
