Assistant Principals named

When school begins in August, four WISD schools will have new assistant principals in place to work with students and staff members.  Dr. Brent Ringo will move to Wylie High School, Barbara Davis will go to Akin Elementary, Tiffany Harrod will fill the Cooper Junior High slot and Katrina Slaughter will be at Cox Elementary.  

Dr. Ringo, current assistant principal at Cooper Junior High, is filling the position vacated by Kim Morisak.  He holds a Bachelor’s of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin; Master’s of Education from Texas State University in San Marcos and completed a Doctor of Education from Texas A & M at Commerce in December 2008.  He also has superintendent certification.

Barbara Davis, most recently a fourth grade teacher at Birmingham Elementary, will replace Valerie Plumlee, who was named principal at Akin Elementary earlier this month.  She has sixteen years education experience, having received a Bachelor’s of Education and Master’s in Educational Administration both from the University of North Texas in Denton.  Ms. Davis is also pursuing certification as a principal.

Tiffany Harrod is currently a curriculum specialist at Cooper Junior High and will replace Dr. Ringo as assistant principal.  She has taught in both Plano ISD and Wylie ISD.  She holds a Bachelor of Science from Texas A&M University and a Master of Educational Leadership from Dallas Baptist University.  She holds certification as a principal as well as teaching certifications in Special Education Pre-K through 12 and secondary reading.

Katrina Slaughter comes to Wylie ISD and specifically Cox Elementary from the Plano ISD where she has most recently served as an academic support specialist.  She received her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Education in Educational Administration both from the University of North Texas.  She hold certification as a principal as well as teaching certifications in secondary geography and history.
