Congratulations to the district’s campus teachers of the year who were honored at the 31st Annual Wylie Chamber of Commerce Banquet this weekend. During the event Donald Dennis, English Language Learners teacher at Wylie High School, was named WISD Secondary Teacher of the Year; Melissa Carpenter, second grade teacher at Rita Smith Elementary, was named as WISD Elementary Teacher of the Year. They were chosen by a committee of community and business leaders based on interviews and written essays. They will both compete for the Region 10 honor at their respective levels this summer.
