WISD receives Meritorious Budget Award

Congratulations to the WISD Business Office for receiving the Meritorious Budget Award from the Association of School Business Officials (ASBO) International for its 2008-2009 annual budget.  ASBO designed the award program to assist school business administrators with achieving excellence in budget presentation and honoring school systems for jobs well done.  Wylie ISD is the fourteenth Texas school district out of more than 1,000 to receive the recognition.     

At the direction of Michele Mauldin, WISD Manager of Payroll and Benefits and Kathy Lipe, Administrative Assistant to the Asst. Superintendent for Business Operations, the business office compiled and organized information to fill the 185 page budget manual.  It provides not only the details of financial operations in WISD but gives a comprehensive overview of the district as well.

The program review team that judged the manual commented, “The (WISD) budget is a fine document, which includes a wealth of information in graphic and a narrative form.  The document is user-friendly for the average taxpayer with lots of data presented in different forms to meet the needs of varied users.  Many components are suitable, stand alone documents.  The District is to be complimented for its efforts.”
