WHS junior crowned GMT 2009 Prom Queen

Aimee's reaction to her selection

In a live broadcast, Good Morning Texas crowned WHS junior Aimee Gonzales its 2009 GMT Prom Queen. The WHS junior was surprised by Paige McCoy Smith of GMT and a host of staff and students who gathered in the library to celebrate the news.

Aimee was selected from hundreds of entries from across the Metroplex.  She was nominated by her grandmother, Carol Moore, who was also present and shared the letter she wrote for the contest.

“Aimee goes to school full time, keeps an after school work schedule, yet always has time for me,” said Ms. Moore.  “Aimee helps her father with paying for her truck, insurance and personal expenses to take the pressure off him.  Being chosen as Prom Queen will give her the honor she deserves.”

As the winner, Aimee will receive all the accoutrements for prom including a dress, accessories, courtesy of Whatchamacallit, dinner for eight, corsage, boutonniere, hair style, makeup, limo ride and a photo session.  Aimee’s escort will also be treated to a tuxedo.
