The Wylie ISD Education Foundation continues to “grow” leaves on its Tibbals Tree of Honor and Knowledge. Patty and Paul Tetreault placed a leaf on the tree in memory of their son, Michael, who was killed in an automobile accident in 2002.
Michael, a teacher favorite, graduated from Wylie High School in 2000. He attended Hartman Elementary school and is remembered annually by the campus staff and PTA who organized a community spaghetti dinner in his honor. Proceeds from the event go to the Michael Tetreault memorial scholarship that is presented to a graduating senior.
The Tibbals Tree of Honor and Knowledge is located in the Wylie ISD Educational Service Center. It is named for the Harry and Retha Tibbals Family, founding donors of the education foundation, and serves as a monument to those who support and pursue excellence in education.
