Congratulations to Kate Caballero, Wylie ISD Elementary Teacher of the Year , and to Angela Arp, WISD Secondary Teacher of the Year . Kate, kindergarten teacher at Groves, and Angela, health teacher at Wylie East, were named to these honors January 19 at the Wylie Chamber of Commerce Banquet at Southfork Ranch. They were selected by a panel of area business leaders who interviewed and read the essays of all of the 17 campus teachers of the year.
Additional elementary education candidates were: Jennifer O'Neall-Akin, Angie Hawkins-Birmingham; Kathy Boneau-Cox, Vicki Patterson-Dodd, Natasha Nardiello-Hartman, Penny Matthews-Smith, Mary Langdon-Tibbals, Shelley Henderson-Davis, Kathryn Lee-Draper and Chelsea Gray-Harrison. Also represented in the secondary education category were: Brittany Sluetz-Burnett, Carol B. Brown-Cooper, JoAnn Elliott-McMillan, Nathan Fieldsmith-Special Programs and Jan Sellars-Wylie High School
At the banquet, Superintendent John Fuller also received a surprise. He was named Citizen of the Year by the Wylie Chamber of Commerce, which is its highest award. Dr. Fuller was honored for the positive impact that he has on the community through his leadership of the WISD and his public service activities.
WISD Communications Specialist Marcia Coker was named Ambassador of the Year for the Chamber at Saturday's event. Members of the Ambassador group are the "face" of the Chamber. They attend ribbon cuttings, volunteer for various projects and welcome new members to the organization.  | | Dr. John Fuller |
