Stephanie Oliver named National Merit Scholarship Finalist

WHS senior Stephanie Oliver

WHS senior Stephanie Oliver has been named a National Merit Scholarship Finalist by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.  This designation is a tremendous honor for her, and the WISD family extends its congratulations to Stephanie and her family.  She has been selected in a process that began with more than 1.4 million entrants who took the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).  Students who are named as Finalists are in the upper one half of the top one percent of those who take the exam.  The top 50,000 students nationwide are in the recognition program and are named either Commended, Semifinalists or Finalists.  Merit Scholarship award winners are chosen from the Finalist group, based on their abilities, skills and accomplishments.

Stephanie Oliver is the daughter of Steve and Tena Oliver.  She has applied to several universities including Yale and plans to study in biomedical engineering.
