Top scholars named at Wylie High School

Kaylee Christensen

Two Wylie High School seniors have been named top scholars for their performances on the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test or PSAT.  The National Merit Scholarship program selected Stephanie Oliver as a National Merit Semifinalist.  Kaylee Christensen has been named a National Hispanic Scholar by the selection committee for the College Board.

High school juniors in the nation are eligible for the competitions, although, only one half to one percent score high enough to earn recognition.  This is the third consecutive year that Wylie High School has had top ranking students in the program.  Because of their recognition both students are eligible for scholarships and financial aid through the colleges of their choice.

Stephanie Oliver is the daughter of Steve and Tena Oliver.  Although, she has applied to Yale, she is still looking at other universities, especially those who offer studies in biomedical engineering.

“I had brain surgery when I was little so I have always been fascinated with neurology,” said Stephanie.  “I would love to be a neurologist.”

Kaylee Christensen plans to attend Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma and major in music and business.  She wants to pursue a career in the music industry as a talent scout.

“My dream job would be to travel around looking for new artists or bands and help them develop their music careers,” said Kaylee.

Kaylee is the daughter of Tim and Terri Christensen.
