Career Day at Wylie High School

The Education Committee of the Wylie Chamber of Commerce organized and hosted a Career Day at Wylie High School on October 17 for members of the senior class.  Students had the opportunity to visit with representatives from more than 20 businesses, municipal departments and military groups.

"We have had wonderful response from the community," explained Education Committee Chair, Chuck Flesch.  "Our students could learn about banking, computer gaming careers, broadcasting, architecture, veterinary medicine, fire and police work, performing arts and medicine among many others."

Flesch also expressed appreciation to WHS Principal Gary Brown and his administrative staff for the invitation to host the event and the cooperation in making it a success.

During the spring the Education Committee will host its second Job Fair for WISD students to be held at Wylie High School.  The first event, which was held this past spring, drew a sizeable crowd of students looking for jobs and businesses looking for applicants.  The committee hopes to make the job fair an annual event.
