In the finals of the Carrollton Tournament of Champions this weekend, the WHS band (that Wylie Band) was awarded the Grand Champion trophy. Also in finals the band scored highest in Music, Marching and General Effect.
In prelims the band was awarded Best in Class for the division. The group also won trophies for Outstanding Music and Outstanding General Effect . The band held overall first place going into finals.
Director Mike Lipe was obviously proud of the group. He said, "The kids performed well all day, and we couldn't be more proud of them. They also handled themselves with class and dignity throughout the day. Some of chaperones told us that others commented on how nice and polite our students were."
