WISD Clarifies 5-12 Standard Dress Code

The Wylie ISD has made clarifications to its Standard Dress Code for Grades 5-12 which should reduce confusion and questions in three major categories:  Shirts/Turtlenecks, Sweatshirts/Sweaters and Outer/Winter Wear.

Shirts/Turtlenecks Area:    One clarification is that undershirts (worn under collared knit buttoned polo, Oxford-style, dress shirts or turtlenecks) must be a solid color.  Also in this area, clothing with hoods will not be considered shirts but will be outerwear.

Sweatshirts/Sweaters Area:   White has been added to approved colors, but the garments must be appropriately sized.  They will also be long-sleeved and a minimum of waist length.   Upper garments that zip in front, snap, button, are open-fronted, or cardigan style are considered outer/winter wear garments.   This includes sweater vests and sweatshirts with hoods.

Outer/Winter Wear Area:   Hoodies  and other outer/winter wear will be removed inside the building.  Again, any upper garment item that zips, buttons, snaps, has an open front or is hooded is considered outerwear.  Hooded sweatshirts are considered outerwear.

It is also important to note that Pants/Shorts cannot have rivets on them or pockets that are sewn on the outside

In the  General Area ,  hair color that is considered to be an unnatural color is prohibited.  This issue is a campus based principal decision.
