WISD announced the 2008 Teacher of the Year campus winners at a surprise luncheon December 7 at Woodbridge Golf Course. The teachers were selected by their peers at each school. Representing the secondary program (grades 7-12) are: Wylie High School – Jan Sellars, English/AP English; Special Programs Center – Nathan Fieldsmith, Science; Wylie East High School – Angela Arp, Health; Burnett Junior High – Brittany Sluetz, seventh/eighth grade Science; Cooper Junior High – Carol B. Brown, seventh grade Science and McMillan Junior High – JoAnn Elliott, seventh grade Science.
Representing the elementary program (grades PreK-6) are: Akin - Jennifer O'Neall, first grade; Birmingham - Angie Hawkins, first grade; Cox - Kathy Boneau, third grade; Dodd - Vicki Patterson, kindergarten; Groves - Kate Caballero, kindergarten; Hartman - Natasha Nardiello, fourth grade; Smith - Penny Matthews, kindergarten; Tibbals - Mary Langdon, Alpha Phonics; Davis Intermediate - Shelley Henderson, Librarian; Draper Intermediate - Kathryn Lee, fifth grade Math/Science and Harrison Intermediate - Chelsea Gray, Choir.
The teachers will be honored January 19, 2008 at the Wylie Chamber of Commerce annual banquet where the District Elementary and Secondary Teachers of the Year will be announced.
