2010 - 2011 Cheerleader/Mascot Try-outs
If your 6th or 7th grade child is interested in trying out for MJHS cheerleader or mascot for the 2010 - 2011 school year, you must attend a mandatory meeting. We will be holding these mandatory meetings in the McMillan Library on Monday, February 15 at 7:00 pm and on Thursday, February, 18 at 5:30 pm. Both the student and a parent/guardian must attend one of these information meetings in order to be considered eligible for try-outs. Students must also pass all classes in the fourth six weeks in order to be eligible to try-out. Clinic and tryouts will be held in the McMillan Jr. High gym from March 8 through March 12. If you have any questions, please contact Sharla McCrary at sharla.mccrary@wylieisd.netclear.

Study Island Deadline Extension
Due to circumstances which prevented some core classes from
working in the computer labs, the current deadline for Study Island has
been extended to January 29th. The minimum goal is 5 ribbons in math,
reading, science and below grade level science. The reward goal is 9
ribbons in each category. For those who have already reached the goal,
encourage them to keep working as new goals will be set soon, and the
last goal will be to finish the program before the TAKS tests. Please
check student menus when you are in the labs and have them work on the
subject in which they have the least amount of ribbons.
Thank you for your assistance with this program. Our students have
already answered 580,372 questions. It would be extremely difficult, if
not impossible, to build that practice into regular class time or
homework.

Study Island
Study Island required and reward goals have been established for the current six weeks period. Students must have completed a minimum of 5 BLUE ribbons (white ribbons do not count) for each of: ELA, MATH, and SCIENCE by January 15th. Students who do not reach the required goal will be assigned mandatory tutorials. Those who have a total of 9 blue ribbons in each subject will attend a reward party! Students are working in the program once per week during Marauder Time and occasionally during their core classes. Remember that this is an online program, so your child can work from any computer with internet access. Teachers and peer tutors are available for assistance during Marauder Time, and students who need extra help with any of the topics are welcome in the core subject tutorials before or after school. Click here to go to Study Island.

2008 — 2009 Campus Goals
McMillan has created a campus improvement plan that aligns with the district goals for 2008-2009. Read about the plan and view its contents from this page.
Student Handbook
You can read a copy of the Student Handbook here. You will need a copy of Adobe Reader to view the PDF file. You can get Adobe Reader here if you cannot open the file above.
Walking to School
Walkers should cross Park Blvd. They can cross at Westgate Way with the crossing guard and at the bus lane in the afternoon only with the help of Mr. Blank when he's on duty. At no time should they cross anywhere along Park and they should never cross at the four way stop at Blocton and the entrance to the Davis and McMillan parking lots. They should walk from McMillan toward Davis using the front sidewalk by the buildings. They shouldn't be using the sidewalk adjacent to Park. Click here for details on getting to and from school.
Absent Work
Perhaps your child has missed school, and you are wondering
how to collect absent work. At McMillan Junior High, parents may request
work by contacting Lena Cunningham after their child has missed three or more
consecutive days of school. To pick-up your child's work (after 2:30
p.m.), parents must call before 9 a.m. and place a request with Lena
Cunningham.
Students who miss one or two days may collect work upon returning to school.
Examples:
Mary misses Monday, September 17th. She will collect her missed work from all classes when she returns September 18th.
Jerry misses Monday , September 17th and Tuesday, September 18th. He will collect his missed work from all classes when he returns September 19th.
Tim misses Monday, September 17th, Tuesday, September 18th and Wednesday
September 19th. A parent may call Lena Cunningham to place a request to collect the work from his teachers.
Students receive the number of days absent, plus one additional day to make-up any absent work.
