Drop-off & Pick-up Procedures
Morning Drop-Off
We will continue to use only the right lane (closest to the school) to drop off students.
Please pull up as far as possible before letting your child out.
Your child should be ready to exit the car as soon as it stops so cars behind you are not unnecessarily waiting to leave.
If you are turning left onto Park Blvd., carefully merge into the left lane before exiting the parking lot.
When leaving only turn left onto Park Blvd. from the left lane.
When leaving only turn right onto Park Blvd. from the right lane.
Afternoon Pick-Up
Both the right and left lanes will be used to pick up students.
Please pull up as far as possible while waiting for your riders.
Do not block the exit from Davis Intermediate’s car lane.
Those turning left onto Park Blvd. when leaving, should only use the left lane (closest to the parking lot) to pick up.
Those turning right onto Park Blvd. when leaving, should only use the right lane (closest to the school) to pick up.
Students needing to get into cars in the left lane will use the cross walk and carefully walk parallel with the other cars to their car.
A center lane should be left clear to allow cars to exit past other cars still waiting for their riders.
When leaving only turn left onto Park Blvd. from the left lane.
When leaving only turn right onto Park Blvd. from the right lane.
For your safety...
If you walk or ride to school from Birmingham Farms (south); you must cross at the intersection of Park Blvd. and Westgate Way where a crossing guard is located. You will then proceed down the sidewalk toward Davis Intermediate School. Do not walk down the sidewalk on Park toward McMillan. You will follow the Davis side walk past the front of Davis and then cross over to McMillan at the three way stop by our bike racks. If you are riding a bike or skateboard, once you reach the flag poles at Davis, you will stop and walk the rest of the way. Failure to do this will cause you to lose your riding privilege. Be very careful riding where walkers are located. Be very careful and courteous when you cross in front of Davis. Obey their rules and show their teachers the same respect expected of you here at McMillan. You are a guest on their property. You will follow this same route and procedure when leaving in the afternoon.
If you are coming from over the bridge from the west; you should already be on the north side of Park nearest the school once you’ve crossed the bridge. Once you arrive to the sidewalk in front of McMillan you should stop riding and walk the rest of the way. You will follow this same route and procedure when leaving in the afternoon.
If you are coming out of Birmingham Estates from Blockton Drive; you must use the sidewalk on the south side of Park to walk down to Park and Westgate to cross with the crossing guard. The intersection of Blockton, Park and the entrance and exit to both school parking lots is way too busy for you to cross at that location. You will follow this same route and procedure when leaving in the afternoon.
You must be very careful if you ride a skateboard. Riding skateboards anywhere on school grounds will result in getting the skateboard taken up and may cause everyone to lose their skateboarding privileges.
Once again, these procedures are in place for your protection and safety and they will be enforced. Failure to follow these procedures will be considered a discipline and safety issue and will be handled through Mr. Peters, Mr. Torres’ or Officer Douglas' offices.
