Philosophy of Discipline
McMillan Junior High’s main goal in its discipline program is to ensure that all students are provided a safe, supportive and challenging learning environment free from distractions. Our first priority is having teachers place emphasis on designing interesting, appropriate classroom activities that genuinely engage students in learning that keeps their focus on their work and encourages them to persevere in their learning when difficulties arise. We also believe that students receive consequences for all of the choices they make whether they be positive or negative. It is within this framework that we have established our campus discipline system. Ultimately it is up to the individual teachers to establish discipline in their classrooms that best support their expectations and style of teaching. But invariably there will be occasions when students make choices that require outside intervention. List below is the campus framework that will be followed.
