Superintendent H. John Fuller
Superintendent H. John Fuller is serving his fourteenth year as superintendent of the Wylie Independent School District. Prior to coming to WISD in October of 1993, Dr. Fuller served as superintendent of the San Marcos, Muleshoe and Wells public schools. During his 37 years in education he has also served as a principal, coach, university math instructor and public school math teacher.
Under Dr. Fuller’s leadership, the Wylie ISD has earned a Recognized ranking in the state’s overall accountability system; the majority of its campuses are rated as either Recognized or Exemplary. While at Wylie ISD Dr. Fuller has passed four bond packages totaling $256.5 million and opened a new high school. A second high school, Wylie East, will open in the fall of 2007 along with the district’s eighth elementary campus and third intermediate campus. He has already opened four elementary schools, two intermediate, two junior high schools and a special programs center while superintendent. During his tenure student enrollment has more than tripled to 10,100 and continues to grow at a rate of 11% per year. Dr. Fuller has brought technology to the district and into the classroom where it has become a tool used by the teaching staff. Such exciting additions as an electronic grade book for teachers and parent viewer for grades are recent additions to the district’s technology tool belt.
Dr. Fuller holds a Doctorate in Education from Texas Tech University, a Master of Science and a Master of Education from Stephen F. Austin State University, a Bachelor of Arts and an Associate of Science from Dallas Baptist University.
Dr. Fuller was the 2004 Region 10 Superintendent of the Year and its nominee for the state award. He is a current member of the Texas Association of School Administrators Executive Committee, and in 2003 he was chosen as one of “21 for the 21st Century” by Inside Collin County Magazine. He has received both the Distinguished Alumni Award and the Servant Leadership Award from Dallas Baptist University. He has also served as a board member for the Texas Center for Educational Research. Dr. Fuller is very involved in working with aspiring administrators as well a participating in the TASA Mentoring Program.
