Art Awards Announced

The Texas Art Education Association sponsors annually the Visual Arts Scholastic Event.  This is a most prestigious event that provides competition across the state for hallowed advancement and medals.  It is the largest standards based art competition in the nation and its results considered of the highest quality.  There were over 25,000 entries submitted across the state this year.  Those that met the standards were advanced to state and this year 1,750 were considered for this advancement.  Wylie High School had six students meet this esteemed standard.  Daniel Naseath, Amber Patterson, Narong Tintamusik, Haydee Torres, Gretchen Vickers, and Erica Wicket are recipients of this honor.  In addition, 700 students earned gold medals.  Daniel Naseath was a double gold medal winner.  Wylie East High School had two students included in the Gold Medal arena as well and Pirate Treasure is proud to add them to this list.  Those students also recognized as Gold Medal recipients were Brandon Stevens and Madeline Aguilar.  Only 120 students were chosen as Gold Seal winners and Gretchen Vickers for the second year in a row was one of the students merited with this accolade.  WHS is proud of this program and the success speaks to the quality that goes into preparing students for such events.  Macklyn Stripling, Jennifer Thompson and Susan West are to be commended for the tremendous job they do in readying these students and providing the leadership to promote art at our school.  Congratulations!
