Profile of Wylie High School

Wylie High School in the Wylie Independent School District is a 5A campus located in Wylie, Texas and Collin County, approximately 24 miles northeast of downtown Dallas, Texas.  The school’s current enrollment is 1,905 students.  Wylie High School offers Regular and Advanced Academics, Humanities, Advanced Career and Technology, a wide range of Fine Arts, Advanced Placement course offerings, Health Science Technology and Sports Medicine, Air Force Junior ROTC, as well as concurrent college studies.  In addition, Wylie High School has a state recognized Distinguished Achievement Program for students who graduate with highest honors.  The curriculum offers unusual classes such as Culinary Arts and Video Production but does not offer International Baccalaureate.

Students at Wylie High School compete at the regional, state and national levels in academic and extra curricular areas.  Students receive scholarships from a wide range of colleges and universities.  Wylie students are also named to participate in the National Merit Scholar Program.

Currently 30% of WISD graduates go to four-year colleges and universities; 40% go to two-year schools.The average SAT score is 1007 and the average ACT score is 23. The school uses  a 4.0 and 5.0 grading system.   Students can earn additional points for AP classes – 5.0.

Advanced Placement and Pre-AP classes are offered in all major course areas as well as Spanish, Psychology, Music Theory, Art Drawing and Computer.The wide variety of AP and Pre-AP course offerings makes achieving the top 10% of the class very challenging.
