Librarian
  • Students will be empowered by being authors and illustrators of their own stories.
  • Students will explore their innate curiosity about the world around them by researching certain topics of interest through the use of their learned library skills.
  • Students will show their enthusiasms about reading new materials as they repeatedly ask for the next book in the series they are reading.
  • Students will listen to stories and imagine themselves in that story.
  • Students will test their knowledge by taking RC tests on what they have read thus showing their skills of comprehension.
  • The imagination of students will be fed as they participate in storytime as they are asked questions about what will happen next?

  • Actively engaged through singing activities, playing instruments, keeping the beat by tapping, clapping, and playing instruments; following rhythm/music notation; 
  • Students are empowered when they choose their partner, choose the instrument they want to play, write their own rhythms and/or melodies; show how music symbols are drawn; decide what option to participate in; conduct the class as we read rhythms and melodies; Conduct the class while they sing 
  • Students are encouraged through positive feedback in class as compliments are given, encouraging words are shared with individuals or groups of students; classes earn paws for good behavior; students earn Music Maestros for exceptional behavior; students receive stickers for being “on”, using their clues to determine or remember the answer to a question .
  • Believe in students that they can succeed and do their best. All students have the ability to learn music as they participate in the daily activities: singing, playing instruments, listening to music, working cooperatively with their peers to compose music and to perform a grade level program.

Physical Education & Health

  • Students will actively participate in all activities in order to increase pride in self and improve confidence to try new things.
  • Students will demonstrate leadership in many of the activities.
  • Students will work cooperatively by working with peers to further understand the concept, encourage the peer in his/her endeavor to improve and demonstrate the skill.
  • Students will use critical thinking skills throughout the lessons.
  • Students will expand their vocabulary with the addition of weekly vocabulary words.
  • Students will work cooperatively in teams in order to build pride by encouraging and supporting each other. Students will earn medal points in their teams for demonstrating good character skills, various skill competitions, and team-competitions.
  • Students will be created randomly without knowledge of who will be on what team. There is no balance on a team. The students create this balance by finding the strengths and weaknesses in each person on their team, and building on them with honor and pride.
  • Students will be pre-tested and post-tested on all Fitness Areas in Fitness Gram and the President's Challenge.
