

There are many questions that come up each year for our new as well as returning families, so this page is to provide you with information to help answer your questions.
How can I order school supplies?
At the end of each school year, an order form will be sent home with your child to purchase supplies for the following school year. Each set of supplies will be grade level appropriate and will be waiting in your child’s classroom when they return to school in August.
May I come up and have lunch with my child?
You may come eat lunch with your child. Grade level lunch times are posted on the individual grade level websites. Make sure you check in at the office before proceeding to the cafeteria.
May I bring food for my child at lunch?
You may bring lunch to your child during their scheduled lunch time. However, you may not bring food for any other children due to the new Texas Food and Nutrition standards that have been put in place.
How can I get involved in activities at my child’s school?
There are many ways to get involved here at Groves. We are always looking for volunteers to help out in a variety of ways. The PTA also is always looking for helpful hands so they can serve the students here at Groves as well.
Can I volunteer if I have small children?
You may volunteer and work in the work room if your child stays with you, but you may not go into the classrooms as it may cause disruptions to the learning process.
Can I send snacks on my child's birthday?
You may bring a birthday snack for your child; however it must be after 2:00. Please make sure to notify the teacher ahead of time and report in the office first, so we will know that you are here on campus.
What do I do if my child is taking medicine?
If your child has medicine he or she needs to take, it will need to be brought into the clinic so that the nurse may administer the treatment. Students are not, for any reason, allowed to bring medicines with them to the classroom.
When can I meet with my child’s Teacher?
Parent conferences are held twice a year. The first opportunity is in September, and the second one will be in April. However, if there is a time that you need to meet with your child’s teacher prior to these times, then you may contact your child’s teacher to set up a meeting during their conference period.
Is there a way I can see my child’s grades on line?
You may view your child’s grades online through our Family Access Program. See Mrs. Menchaca in the office to obtain the necessary form to get you started.
How do I add money to my child’s lunch account?
In order to add money to your child’s account, you may approach it in two ways. You may either send them in with money to deposit when they go to lunch that day, or you may go to the schools main website, click on the Lunch Account button, and deposit money into their account online.
How do I get involved with PTA?
Simply visit the PTA website: http://grovespta.txpta.org/ OR, watch the information pages that come home with your students each week that will keep you up to date and provide you with great ways to get involved.
What does the PTA do?
PTA is the combined effort of Parents and Teachers advocating for the very best education and safety of every child. PTA raises vital funds to support the school, teachers and administrators with needed educational programs and learning materials.

Can I attend assemblies?
We are always happy to have our parents here and to participate in school events.
What is Gator Groove?
Gator Groove is an assembly in which students are honored for the academic success in the classroom. This event is always held the Friday after report cards go out. Invitations will be sent home from teachers to students who will be receiving an award so that parents will know the date and times of this event. As always, parents are encouraged to come and support their child when possible.
