Profile
The Wylie ISD Education Foundation, Inc. is a 501( c) ( 3) non-profit organization governed by a Board of Directors representing a cross- section of citizens who are dedicated to education and share a vision for excellence in our schools. The Foundation was created to promote quality education and enhance the education of all students in the Wylie ISD.
The purpose of the Foundation is to solicit, manage, and distribute funds for enrichment purposes in program areas not otherwise funded by the District. Funding is supplemental and does not replace or alter use of tax-based revenue. Donations to the Foundation are received from individuals, corporations and other foundations to fund educational programs and projects and to create an endowment fund. Programs will be funded from donations and the interest earned on the endowment fund.
Foundation Goals
·To provide a continuous source of funds with gifts received from individuals, corporations, businesses, trusts and investments. ·To promote student development and excellence through enrichment programs and activities. ·To encourage and recognize creativity among educators by supporting unique growth opportunities and providing resources for innovative teaching ideas. ·To further motivate the Wylie ISD community to become directly involved in education.
Programs
Foundation Programs support the Foundation's mission to promote quality education by supporting enhancements through innovative programs and initiatives and will be implemented as funds are available or as they are endowed. ·Grants-to-Educators ( up to $ 1,000 for Classroom Grants and up to $ 3, 000 for Grade Level or Across Curriculum Area Grants) encourage teachers and other educators to develop specific and innovative instructional programs that stimulate thought and advance new approaches to teaching in all curriculum areas PreK-12. ·Campus Grants ( up to $ 3, 000) allow the staff on each campus to identify and address needs, challenges, and concerns unique to the campus to enhance the learning experience. ·District Grants ( up to $ 5, 000) allow educators to develop district-wide innovative programs which stimulate thought and advance new approaches to teaching in one grade level and/ or curriculum area. ·Mini Grants (up to $500) allow the staff of each campus to determine the needs of the campus for innovative programs which can be carried out with a smaller monetary expenditure. ·Student Scholarships are available through endowed gifts. A minumum endowment of $10,000 is required.
Future Programs
·New Teacher Grants ( up to $ 200) will be provided for first-year teachers in the District to assist in classroom/ instructional preparation. ·Teacher Recognition Awards, consisting of recognition and monetary awards, will be given annually to the Campus Teachers of the Year ( $ 200) and District Teacher of the Year ( $ 300) . ·Instructional Paraprofessional Scholarships for Teachers ( up to $ 100 per semester hour) will be awarded to paraprofessionals seeking teacher certification and meeting the Foundation s criteria. ·Teacher Enrichment Grants ( up to $ 1,000) will provide an opportunity for the further development of teachers skills through workshops, classes and/ or seminars for enrichment purposes for which college credit is not received. ·Enhancement Grants for Students ( up to $ 1,000) will provide student enrichment opportunities that are above and beyond regular, remedial or required study.
