Proficiency Requirements
Proficiency RequirementsStaff members are able to test out of several courses offered by the Staff Development department. Below is a list of the skills that will be tested in a Proficiency Session. To test out of a class, attendees must score 90% or higher. Upon successful completion, participants will be awarded credit.
Proficiency Nights are from 3:30-6:30 p.m.
Teachers may test out of 3-hour credit courses, such as Word or PowerPoint. Proficiency tests are provided once a month. Please sign up on Workshop for the proficiency tests of your choice.

Outlook I
Composing and sending a new email, using the global address book to locate an email address, using carbon copy and blind carbon copy, setting email priority and sensitivity, adding an attachment to email, replying to an email, copy & pasting information into an email, creating folders, entering a new appointment on your calendar, marking appointments private, sending appointments, replying to appointments
Word I
Typing text, changing font style, size and color of text, copy/cut and paste text, insert object from AutoShapes, use drawing tools, insert Word Art, format Word Art, search for Clip Art, insert Clip Art, insert a page border, insert picture from file, use the undo feature, adding toolbars, spell check, how to use Help to locate information
Windows XP
Show knowledge of: locking the computer, changing password, logging off, shutting down, and using task manager, using the Task Bar, using the keystrokes Windows+E and D; file management tasks: changing views, creating a new folder, renaming, drag/drop, and deleting, changing the different views in Windows Explorer, arranging icons by type, name, size, and “modified,” knowledge of the uses of drives A, C, H, S, T, W, and D, changing the screensaver, how to play an audio CD in Windows Media Player and change the visualizations, how to search for a file, purpose of defragmenting and using scandisk and how to perform those tasks, use of printer manager to add a printer, how to put in a computer support ticket
PowerPoint I
Selecting a template from the gallery, use of Task Pane, aligning text in textboxes, changing font style, size and color, inserting a new slide, search for and insert Clip Art and pictures from files, manipulating Clip Art images, layering graphics, setting slide transitions and timings, printing slides, using toolbars, looping slides shows, timing and transitions, different ways to view your slides
Excel I
Save worksheet to other location, enter data in a cell, delete worksheets, rename worksheets, freeze/unfreeze panes, delete rows and columns, resize columns, sort data ascending and descending, insert columns, auto-fill columns, create simple formulas to total or average data, auto-fill formulas to other cells, format cells (shading cells, alignment, 1000 separator, decimal places, etc.), insert footers with auto text, change page set-up, use page break preview, zoom (percentages and to selection), copy worksheets, chart wizard to create charts, printing worksheets
