TEXTBOOKS Textbook Selection and Adoption 2007-2008:
Texas is one of 22 states with a process for approval or adoption of instructional materials. This school year, textbooks for Elementary Mathematics will be reviewed and selected for adoption.
At an appropriate time following adoption of instructional materials by the State Board, the Wylie ISD Superintendent shall make recommendations to the Board for appointment of a local textbook adoption committee.
Committee members will participate in setting criteria for selection and will contribute to an in-depth evaluation and discussion of choices. They will attend presentations by publishers and spend additional time studying the materials.
The local committee, after examining all instructional materials adopted by the State Board and reflected on the multiple lists, shall select materials for use in the District, and recommend the selections to Board for ratification. In the event the Board does not ratify any of the selections, the reasons shall be recorded in Board minutes. The committee shall make other recommendations for selection until the Board has ratified all selection.
The textbooks selected and adopted for Elementary Mathematics will be ordered from TEA and distributed to Wylie ISD Campuses beginning the school year 2008-2009.
