Wylie ISD celebrated major student success in the 2008-2009 school year.

The district saw percent increases in test scores in all five tested areas of Reading/English Language Arts, Mathematics, Writing, Science, and Social Studies.  The district wide focus on student engagement and active learning led to achievement gains in 23 of 25 measured areas.

Ten WISD campuses earned the highest accountability rating of Exemplary. These campuses were Wylie East High School, Harrison Intermediate, Akin Elementary, Birmingham Elementary, Cox Elementary, Dodd Elementary, Groves Elementary, Hartman Elementary, Smith Elementary,  Whitt Elementary.   Wylie ISD received a recognized rating as did Wylie High School, Davis and Draper Intermediates, and Tibbals Elementary. Receiving Academically Acceptable ratings were McMillan, Cooper, and Burnett Junior Highs.

Wylie ISD is proud of the academic achievement of its students! Using the current data, plans are in progress to ensure continued achievement for students.    

TEA Accountibility Ratings

To earn the Exemplary rating, campuses had to meet the following standards:
  • Spring 2009 TAKS test
    Meets 90% standard for each subject by all students and each student group (meeting minimum size requirement) tested by the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) test. These subjects include Reading/ELA, Writing, Social Studies, Mathematics and Science. The student groups include: All students, African-American, Hispanic, White, Economically Disadvantaged.
To earn the "Recognized" rating, campuses had to meet the following standards:
  • Spring 2009 TAKS Testing
    At least 75% of all students and 75% of each student group passed each section of the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) test OR meets 70% floor and Required Improvement. Subjects included Reading/ELA, Writing, Social Studies, Mathematics and Science. The student groups include: All students, African-American, Hispanic, White, Economically Disadvantaged.
To earn the "Academically Acceptable " rating, campuses had to meet the following standards:
  • Spring 2009 TAKS Testing
    The appropriate percentage of all students and each student group (meeting minimum size requirement) passed each section of the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) test OR meets Required Improvement. The student groups include: All students, African-American, Hispanic, White and Economically Disadvantaged.
    The standards are:
    Reading/ELA - at least 70% passing
    Writing, Social Studies - at least 70% passing
    Math - at least 55% passing
    Science - at least 50% passing
