Character Education

Character Counts
Wylie ISD recognizes the importance of developing and nurturing positive character education traits in the hearts, minds, and behavior of today's students as one way of developing a more compassionate and responsible society.

Character Counts is the district's educational program which encourages teachers, students, and staff members to recognize and demonstrate their own strengths in a positive and caring school environment.
CHARACTER EDUCATION PROGRAM

WISD character education curriculum includes specific grade-level activities K-8, for each six weeks, emphasizing the development of the character traits. WHS emphasizes a character trait each six weeks with specific scheduled school-wide events. As part of the Wylie Independent School District's Character Education, the Wylie City Council honors Star Students who exemplify the character trait for each six weeks.

Character education events and projects are planned each year as part of the character education program to demonstrate Wylie's commitment to developing character in their young people. The program focuses on providing opportunities for students to exercise the six pillars of character - responsibility, respect, caring, trustworthiness, fairness, and citizenship.
