QUANTITATIVE ASSESSMENTS TO BE CONSIDERED BY THE COMMITTEE
- Academic Performance—standardized achievement tests, which measure a student’s knowledge.
- Cognitive Assessments—standardized aptitude tests, which measure problem solving abilities.


DISTRICT SELECTION COMMITTEE
- The District will have a standing committee, which will be responsible for student selection for placement in the WISD Gifted and Talented Program.
- The committee will be comprised of the WISD Advanced Academics Coordinator and GT campus coordinators and/or GT classroom teachers.


QUALITATIVE ASSESSMENTS TO BE CONSIDERED BY THE COMMITTEE
- Tests or scales which measure creativity and divergent thinking
- Portfolio Sample of creative writing and creative application
- Problem Solving Inventory
- Teacher Rating Inventory
- Parent Rating Inventory


DUTIES OF SELECTION COMMITTEE
- Select students eligible for Gifted & Talented services using data provided through the assessment process
- Make committee consensus decisions
- Grant furloughs and approve exits from Gifted and Talented Program
