Testing
CogAT
Harrison will administer the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) to 6th graders November 3 and 4. Sixth graders will test Tuesday and Wednesday for two hours each day. Please help your child do the very best work by having him or her eat a good breakfast and get a good night's rest. Being here and being on time each day is very important. Please also have students check their supplies to be sure they have two #2 pencils.
Hope for Haiti Shoe Project
This project is sponsored Sixth Grade Social Studies and Harrison Multi-Cultural Committee. We are hoping to collect at least 300 pairs of shoes to send to orphans at Danita’s Children Orphanage. The drive will begin Monday, October 26, and will end on Friday, November 13.
5th Grade Veterans Day Permission Slip
The 5th graders will be going to Wylie High School on November 11th for the Veterans Day Program. We will be leaving around 9:45 and returning around 11:45. The permission slips will be turned in to the 5th grade Social Studies teachers.

Book Drive
Our next monthly Book Drive will be Friday, November 13th during lunch. Students can purchase gently used chapter books for a $1 donation. Students may also exchange two gently used chapter books for one book. We will have a book drive the second Friday of each month (except December & April).
Food Drive
Harrison is joining the rest of the schools in the district in collecting food and toiletry items for the Christian Care Center. Students should bring items to their first core-block teacher, and the class that collects the most items will win a pizza party. Please make sure items are store-bought, nonperishable, and sealed in non-glass containers. Thank you for your support of those in need this holiday season.
Fall Festival Booth and Sponsor Application
Business, food and craft vendors will gather on Saturday, November 14th at Olde City Park in downtown Wylie for the Harrison Community Fall Fest. We are currently accepting vendors and sponsors for the event. Vendor booth rentals are $40 for a 12 X 12 space. Sponsorships are available for $250 and include a 12 X 12 booth and your business logo on all advertising for the event. The event will be advertised in The Wylie News, on a banner that will hang outside Harrison the week of the event and displayed downtown during the event, promotional flyers distributed to a minimum of 5 Wylie ISD Schools and all other promotional advertisements in the community. Contact Brian Swinney at b-swinney@ti.com for vendor and sponsor applications.
