TAKS Interactive Study Guides

On March 27, 2008 the Texas Education Agency (TEA) announced the upcoming availability of TAKS interactive study guides in a letter to districts. As stated in that letter, TEA will be gradually rolling out
the interactive guides, starting with the Student Success Initiative grades (3, 5, and 8). To begin the roll-out, TEA is now announcing the official launch of the following TAKS interactive study guides:

TAKS Interactive Study Guide for Grade 3 Reading (Spanish)
TAKS Interactive Study Guide for Grade 5 Reading (English)
TAKS Interactive Study Guide for Grade 5 Reading (Spanish)
TAKS Interactive Study Guide for Grade 8 Reading (English)
TAKS Interactive Study Guide for Exit Level ELA (English)
TAKS Interactive Study Guide for Exit Level Mathematics (English)
TAKS Interactive Study Guide for Exit Level Science (English)
TAKS Interactive Study Guide for Exit Level Social Studies (English)

As mandated by the 76th Texas Legislature in 1999, the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) will be administered beginning in the 2002-2003 school year.

Information about the TAKS can be found on the Student Assessment Division.

The TAKS measures the statewide curriculum in reading at Grades 3-9; in writing at Grades 4 and 7; in English Language Arts at Grades 10 and 11; in mathematics at Grades 3-11; in science at Grades 5,10, and 11; and social studies at Grades 8, 10, and 11.

The Spanish TAKS is administered at Grades 3 through 6.

Satisfactory performance on the TAKS at Grade 11 is prerequisite to a high school diploma.
